Bat file not executing in 2.1.0

HI WF,

We are not able to execute “.bat” file using “Launch Application”. Please help.

Regards,
Narendra

Hi @narendra_purTG

As far as I am aware the Launch Application action is designed for .exe files only.

See the link below for more information:

Hope this helps :slight_smile:

Hi @athos.whittington,

In Launch application, we get two types of file formats “.exe” and “.bat” to select from.

Narendra

@narendra_purTG

What is the error message you are getting?

@athos.whittington

There is no error message, the .bat file would not execute at all.

@ashapkina will definitely be able to help with this one. :slight_smile:

Hi @narendra_purTG what does the bat file do?

@ashapkina, execute a “.vbs” file.

@narendra_purTG does it work when you run it manually?

Yes, this works in recorder.

@narendra_purTG so this does work in recorder and doesn’t work in Control Tower?

Hi @ashapkina,

Sorry for confusion.

When I run this manually this file works. When i invoke the same in recorder or control tower this does not work.

Thanks,
Narendra

@narendra_purTG what does the vbscript do? Can you share the files to test?

HI @ashapkina,

The script unzips files.

@narendra_purTG it should work. Could you share the .bat and .vbs files to have a look?

New folder (2).zip (16.6 KB)

Hi,

The bat file “Gendate” is not working.

Regards,
Narendra

@narendra_purTG it opens cmd, that is why it is not executed through Launch application (there is current limitation in Launch application action that it cannot execute processes with cmd).

As a workaround, you can run your bat file through Run:

  • Win + R
  • type the whole path to the bat file
  • press Enter
