Project Logs Clearing

logs

#1

@ashapkina

I have observed my hard disk is filling due to the log files creating inside rpa express.
I have already uploaded & scheduled some BOTS on control tower. They are running daily.

I want to delete log memory storing daily inside my hard disk.
If so what are the files that I need to delete ?

Give me a solution to avoid filling my hard-disk.

I have 10 GB of files in pg_xlog -folder generated over time. How to clean them?

I am facing the same issue.
My RPA scripts are running almost one year. And I noted my hard disk is memory is full filling day and the day out. I clear the “RPA Express” log files and it will not help on my end.
@azinchuk @ashapkina is there any solution?

Hi WorkFusion team,

Has this forum been active? So disappointed!

@Lasitha_Wijenayake @kaumudi We are discussing how this issue can be solved. We’ll get back to you later today with a solution.

#6

Thanks. If you can send us immediate solution it will be really great full.
:grinning:

#7

Just to make sure: I assumed you meant these log files (c:\users\user\workfusion-workspace.metadata) were filling the disk. Or is there an issue with other files, like tomcat logs, for example?

#8

C:\RPAExpress\RPA\logs
C:\RPAExpress\RPA\wfagent\logs
C:\RPAExpress\Workfusion\tomcat
C:\RPAExpress\RPA\wfagent\archived

These file paths are filling.

Hi @ashapkina :slight_smile:

Thanks for the response :heart_eyes: . Same as my processes.
BTW, sometimes its create an error dump inside the tomcat folder. With ".mdmp " Extension.

C:\RPAExpress\Workfusion\tomcat\logs
C:\RPAExpress\RPA\logs

@Lasitha_Wijenayake @kaumudi Thank you both for the info.

Here are some steps we think can help in this situation:

  1. To prevent Control Tower logs from becoming too large, please use this solution by @azinchuk Stripes.log gets very large

  2. To minimize RPA logs, go to C:\RPAExpress\RPA\rpa-grid. Set minimal values in logback-hub.xml and logback-nodeX.xml files: Max size of log and Max log history to keep.

Max size of log: To change the max size of RPA log, add the tag inside the tag, and set value of this tag (1024KB, 100MB, 1GB etc.):

<timeBasedFileNamingAndTriggeringPolicy class="ch.qos.logback.core.rolling.SizeAndTimeBasedFNATP">
    <maxFileSize>100MB</maxFileSize>
</timeBasedFileNamingAndTriggeringPolicy>

Max log history to keep: To change max days of history of logs, add the tag inside the tag, and set value of this tag as a number (10, 30, 60, etc.):

<rollingPolicy class="ch.qos.logback.core.rolling.TimeBasedRollingPolicy">
    <maxHistory>30</maxHistory>
</rollingPolicy>

Make sure the logs are set to roll over daily.

<rollingPolicy class="ch.qos.logback.core.rolling.TimeBasedRollingPolicy">

<!-- rollover daily -->
  1. As for the metadata and wfagent logs, we suggest creating a small script that would delete:
  • folder C:\RPAExpress\RPA\wfagent\logs
  • log files from C:\Users\username\workfusion-workspace.metadata
    and run it regularly.

Please try these solutions and let us know how this goes.
Thank you.

HI @ashapkina,

We are plan to write a small bat file and is there scripts to delete the files in a folder? could you please share with us.

#12

We don’t have a sample script for clearing the logs, but you could use file(folder) delete actions in RPA recorder for it.
Also, some of our users use special scripts in powershell to delete the logs, as @joreian mentioned is this thread Express 1.1.8 also freezes. They might have a script that would work in your case.

#13

Dont forget to clean up your %Temp% folder too.

The fastest way to do it is:
del /f/s/q foldername > nul
rmdir /s/q foldername

#14

Thank You All for the suggestions. I will try these suggestions & get back to you. :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

#15

Hi @Lasitha_Wijenayake @kaumudi , did you have a chance to try these solutions?

#16

Hi @ashapkina

Sorry for the late reply.
Yes . I tried only the 1st 2 task that you have mentioned.
I didn’t try a script to clear logs.
C:\RPAExpress\RPA\logs
C:\RPAExpress\RPA\wfagent\logs

these 2 logs types deleted through that method.

But C:\RPAExpress\Workfusion\tomcat
C:\RPAExpress\RPA\wfagent\archived these logs didn’t delete by that method.
