Window title or part title not working

window-actions

#1

Hi,
I am using “Enter Window Title or part of title” to switch between windows as my window name can change. But it is neither switching to that window and nor it is throwing any error.
For e.g. Two windows that are opened are - File1-20150726 and File2- 20150726. Since the date part can change I put "File1" in “Enter Window Title or part of title” but still it is not switching and also not throwing error. it simply moves to the next step.

any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

hi @urvashi.singla - it is a known issue which will be fixed in the new release

thanks for letting me know.

Any update on this? I installed 1.1.5, but still I’m having the same problem.

@yoshinobu_suzu
this issue is still not closed. The fix is included to the first version with the object recorder.

Thanks. Roughly when is it going to be available? and until then, are there any workarounds so that I can get a specific window focused by specifying part of window title?

#7

Hi, could you confirm if this is fixed?
I am getting an issue even when I use a variable which is an exact match.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Detailed description follows:
I want to get the list of authors from a set of word documents in a folder. I have read the names of the files and am using a for each loop to read the file, navigate to the author and write the value to another file.
When I use open window and a hard-coded file name through the drop down, the script works. But if I use the variable name through ‘part of title’ option, it does not.
Here is my file name value : POC of FSDS upload.docx [Read-Only] - Word - OpusApp. This is the same as the screenshot from the open window option.
If I select an open window- the window title is exactly the same, but I get the error below.
Caused by: org.openqa.selenium.WebDriverException: Element ‘[CLASS:NetUILabel; NAME:PersonaName]’ doesn’t exist on the window ‘[HANDLE:5376044]’ ‘[CLASS:OpusApp;TITLE:POC of FSDS upload.docx [Read-Only] - Word]’. DesktopWindow

Can you share the screenshot of the action flow to see the details of the action that fails?

#9

Apologies- here is the exact error:
Caused by: org.openqa.selenium.NoSuchWindowException: Window ‘[REGEXPTITLE:(?i).\QPOC of FSDS upload.docx [Read-Only] - Word - OpusApp\E.]’ is not found

Also, screenshots of the action flow when I have open window (success) vs. variable (stop)p2

#10

Thank you @SaurabNair can you share the whole text stored in the ‘filename’ variable?

#11

Here it is: POC of FSDS upload.docx [Read-Only] - Word - OpusApp

#12

Thank you @SaurabNair

Try using only POC of FSDS upload.docx [Read-Only] - Word as part of the title.

OpusApp is not a part of the window’s title, but a class name.

That worked! Thank you
